Description of Course Contents
CLIL or Content and Language Integrated Learning helps students at primary, secondary and tertiary level to learn English and gain knowledge of curricular subjects, by learning those subjects in English. CLIL integrates subject and language learning in the classroom in a total immersion style, without the need for extra lessons. CLIL is being widely introduced at all levels of education at schools and colleges worldwide.
This course will help teachers to explore some of the methodology underlying CLIL and to apply it to their own particular teaching context.
Target Groups
The tutors will work with course participants to produce a wide range of materials and activities which can be used as part of a CLIL curriculum. The course is suitable for teachers at primary, secondary and tertiary level. It is required that teachers should have good standard of English level equivalent to Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) or B2 of the Common European Framework.
Aims of course
• To develop students’ competence in the language
• To develop students’ knowledge of the subject area
• To teach the functional and core language necessary for the subject matter
• To allow learners more contact with the target language in general
• To provide students with numerous opportunities for practising their oral communication skills
• To develope students’ knowledge of and interest in other cultures
